Tutorial for My Assignment #1 (Wedding Invitation)

In order to do this assignment and create this tutorial I used Canva. Here is my invitation I created for my assignment!

Add subtitle text

This tutorial is a tutorial on how to create my Design Assignment. Below is a series of screenshots with text under them explaining each step you should take in creating this Design Assignment.

The first thing you should do after getting to the website is click on the layouts tab and choose which layout you want. There are so many to choose from, so take your pick! I chose just the single page.

Then you should click on the background tab. If you are able to find a background you like then you should click it and it will appear on the layout you have selected. If you do not find a background you like, don’t worry…

You will then simply click the upload tab. This allows you to choose any photo you would like from your pictures. If you don’t already have something you like saved in your pictures then you can simply just go to Google, search what you want, and save it to your pictures. Then you will easily be able to go back to the upload tab and upload your photo.

After picking out the perfect background, you should click on the text tab. You can then either choose a text style they already have or you can create your own text by clicking “Add text.” The first part of a wedding invitation is usually the name of the Bride and Groom.

After adding your first set of text, you can then click it to make a font box with a few other options appear. This allows you to change the font, if you want it bold or italic, color, alignment, and line spacing. Once you are finished with that just simply click on the white area to get out of it.

After adding your main text, you are probably going to want to add some subtitle text with maybe a short welcoming line. Something maybe along the lines of “…. Request the pleasure of your presence at their marriage.” It does not have to be this though; it can be whatever you please. And again, you can also change the font, if you want it bold or italic, color, alignment and line spacing of text.

Then you are going to want to “add a little bit of body text.” This is probably going to contain the date, time, and location of “your wedding.” As stated previously, you can do all of the same things will modifying your text. You’re just about done with creating your very own wedding invitation!

All you have to do is click download and then click “as an image.” This should then download to your computer and you will be able to save it to whatever you please. I hope you had fun creating your very own wedding invitation!
